Cisco Switch Password Recovery by Modifying Configuration Files

How to reset the password with the help of MODE key to modify the configuration file?
1. Reboot the switch and press and hold the switch MODE key within 30 seconds of power-on;

2. The system enters the BOOT mode and executes the command “flash_init” to initialize the FLASH;

3. enter “load_helper”, execute the command “dir flash:”, view the configuration file;
4. Execute the command “rename flash:config.text flash:config.old” to rename the configuration file containing the password;\

5. Execute “boot” to start the switch and choose not to enter the initial configuration;

6. After the startup is completed, automatically enter the user mode, and in the privileged mode, rename the configuration file and copy it to the current system;

7. In global configuration mode, reset the user password and save it, thus completing the password reset operation.
