Optical modules work in the switch usually need to read the internal information of the module to understand its working status, such as module connectivity and real-time collection of light, temperature, etc., through the identification of the module information can be detected by the module and the switch's coding compatibility; so how to view the working status of the optical module in the process of use as well as the internal information?
      The following is an example of accessing ARUBA 6300M JL662A switch with Motek SFP-25G-SR (ARUBA-compatible) optical module to show you the specific operation of reading the information of the accessed optical module on ARUBA switch.

1. Status of optical module
      Execute the command "show interfaces interface-name " to view the interface information;
      The output of this command contains interface configuration information, module type, interface status, etc. (status for UP is a prerequisite for the work of the optical module), as well as some statistical data, which can be used for troubleshooting.
      Explanation: interface-name is the slot number and interface number where the module is located, which can be viewed by executing the command "show interface brief", or the interface number can be determined according to the switch panel; if you don't know the interface slot number and interface number, you can not input them, and then the information of all interfaces will be output.

2. Switch identification of module
      Execute the command "show interface interface-name transceiver detail " to view the identification information and digital diagnosis of the optical module on the interface.
      The output content under this command has two parts of information, one is module identification information, including module type, model, vendor, serial number, wavelength, etc. Transceiver Status shows module authentication status;
      The other part of the information is real-time data diagnosis, while providing a threshold alarm display, you can pay attention to the status to understand whether the working status of the optical module on both ends of the device is normal.
