Optical modules work in the host usually need to read the internal information of the module to understand its working status, such as module connectivity and real-time collection of light, temperature, etc., through the identification of the module information can be detected by the module and the host of the code compatibility; so how to view the working status of the optical module in the process of use as well as internal information?
      The following is an example of accessing the Palo Alto PA-850 firewall with a SFP-10G-LR optical module of Moduletek Limited to show you the specific operation of reading the information of the accessed optical module on the Palo Alto firewall.

1. Status of optical module
      Execute the command "show interface ethernetinterface-number " to view the interface information;
      The information output under this command contains the interface rate, module link state (Runtime link state is a prerequisite for the work of the optical module), and some statistical information, which can be used for troubleshooting.
      Note: interface-number is the interface number where the module is located, you can execute the command "show interface" to view the interface type and interface number; do not know the interface type and interface number, you can not enter, at this time, the output will be all the interface information.

2. Firewall identification of the module
      Execute the command "show transceiver-detail ethernet interface-number" to view the identification information and digital diagnosis of the optical module on the interface.
      The output of this command has two parts of information, one is the module identification information, including module model, vendor, serial number, transmission distance and so on;
      The other part of the information includes data diagnosis and threshold range, the data diagnosis here seems to be the data set by the firewall, not real-time data diagnosis, replacement of the optical module has not seen the value change.
