Introducing the CISCO SFP-10/25G-CSR-S Module

The 10G network is based on the IEEE802.3 specification (10GBASE-SR), which states that the 10G-SR module can transmit up to 300m/400m over OM3/OM4 fiber. Network builders built the equipment at both ends of the fiber according to the maximum distance of 300m/400m, but the 25G-SR module only transmits up to 70m/100m on OM3/OM4 fibers, and some 10G networks can't be directly upgraded to 25G using the 25G-SR module.
CISCO has introduced an optical module model SFP-10/25G-CSR-S, which supports transmission of 300m/400m over OM3/OM4 fiber.

The module also has a dual-rate feature that allows it to interconnect with 25GBASE-SR and 10GBASE-SR optical modules.

For interconnection with 25G modules, RS-FEC (Forward Error Correction) is required to be enabled on the 25G ports, and the types of FEC supported by the SFP-10/25G-CSR-S are listed below:
