GPON, that is Gigabit-Capable PON, which is the latest generation of broadband passive optical integrated access standard based on ITU-TG.984.x standard, has many points such as high broadband, high efficiency, large coverage, rich user interface, etc., and is regarded by most operators as the ideal technology to realize the broadband and integrated transformation of the access network service.

      The transmission rate of GPON is up to 2.5Gbps with SC interface. Like all PONs, GPON consists of  OLTs, ONUs and splitters.

      OLT (Optical Line Terminal), Chinese name is Optical Line Terminal (OLT), mainly installed with the central control station, the transmission rate is TX 2.488Gbps/RX 1.244Gbps, the wavelength is TX1490nm/RX 1310nm.
      ONU (Optical Network Unit), Chinese name is Optical Network Unit, mainly installed in the user side of the network, the transmission rate is TX 1.244Gbps/RX 2.488Gbps, the wavelength is TX1310nm/RX 1490nm. ONU through the optical fiber transmission of optical signals converted into electrical signals, and then these electrical signals are sent to the various users. The ONU can send, transmit, and receive these electrical signals to each subscriber. At the same time, the ONU can send, summarize and organize different types of data from customers and send them to the OLT.
      Splitter, which distributes the signals from the OLT to each ONU.

      In terms of quantity, the market demand for OLTs is much less than that for ONUs, because PON is a PsMP architecture, and an OLT can support 32/64/128 ONUs.
      Currently ModuleTek can only provide GPON OLT B+/C+/C++. In general, GPON OLT B+ can support 20KM 32 ONUs; GPON OLT C+ can support 20km 64 ONUs; while GPON OLT C++ has higher transmit optical power, smaller sensitivity at the receiving end, and better performance, so the demand for C++ is very low at present.
