Introduction of 10G-DWDM Optical Module

I. Overview of DWDM technology
The full name of DWDM is Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), which is called Dense Optical Wave Multiplexing in Chinese. Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing is the use of single-mode fiber bandwidth and low-loss characteristics, in accordance with the bit parallel transmission or string line transmission mode in the optical fiber allows each carrier channel to transmit data simultaneously. This technology increases the communication capacity of the network system and makes full use of the bandwidth of the optical fiber, which has many applications such as backbone networks, metropolitan networks, local area networks and residential access networks. DWDM optical modules applying this technology use different wavelengths to multiplex multiple optical signals into a single fiber, which reduces the total number of fibers required for a given information transmission capacity and lowers construction costs. Because of its unique transmission characteristics and cost advantages, it has been favored by many operators and equipment vendors.

II. Classification and Application of 10G-DWDM Optical Modules
2.1 XENPAK-10G-DWDM
XENPAK-10G-DWDM optical module is a 10G-DWDM module used in the early days, using XENPAK package, which can be subdivided into XENPAK-10G-DWDM-ER for transmission of 40km and XENPAK-10G-DWDM-ZR for transmission of 80km, which is now a bulky, large-sized and outdated product, and has already been eliminated by the market. It has been eliminated from the market.
2.2 X2-10G-DWDM
X2 optical module is evolved from XENPAK standard, the volume is only half of XENPAK, the same transmission 40km and transmission 80km. However, similar to XENPAK, X2-10G-DWDM has been gradually eliminated from the market and is mainly used in some older equipment.
2.3 XFP-10G-DWDM
XFP-10G-DWDM optical module supports rates from 9.95Gb/s to 11.3Gb/s, conforms to XFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) standard, supports 10G Ethernet, 10GFC, and OC192 applications, and can be used in storage, IP networks, and SONET/SDH, and is mainly used in routers and switches. In addition to the regular 40km and 80km XFP-10G-DWDM-ER and XFP-10G-DWDM-ZR, Motex also offers 100km and industrial temperature versions, as shown below:

2.4 SFP-10G-DWDM
SFP-10G-DWDM optical module supports up to 11.3Gb/s bi-directional data transmission rate, complies with 10G Ethernet and SFF-8431 standards, and routinely supports 44 wavelength bands CH18-CH61, as shown below. Under the channel frequency interval of 100GHz, each wavelength interval is around 0.8nm. Meanwhile, for the customized requirements, MOTEK can also produce 50GHz wavelength spacing of 0.4nm, 88-channel 10G-DWDM optical modules, as well as special wavelengths of CH17 1563.86nm and CH62 1527.99nm optical modules. 10G-DWDM optical modules are also the most demanded products in the market of 10G-DWDM products, due to their small size, low power consumption and cost advantages. SFP-10G-DWDM optical modules have also become the 10G-DWDM optical modules with the largest market demand and the most used DWDM optical modules due to their small size, low power consumption and cost advantages.
